September 28: Dairy Financial & Risk Management Conference

The 2016 Dairy Financial and Risk Management Conference was held at the Central Penn Conference Center in Summerdale, Pa., on Wednesday, September 28.

This year’s featured speakers included:

IMG_6691Matt Gould, an analyst at the Dairy & Food Market Analyst, a weekly e-letter covering dairy supply and demand trends. For nearly 25 years, the Dairy & Food Market Analyst has specialized in providing market intelligence and insights to company executives and managers throughout the global dairy industry. He grew up on a dairy farm in Pavilion, NY and has previously worked at O-AT-KA Milk Products, Rice Dairy, LLC., and the US Dairy Export Council.

Sam MillerSam Miller, Managing Director of Agriculture Banking at BMO Harris Bank. Sam was awarded the Bruning Award by the American Bankers Association for Rural and Agriculture Banking for his leadership and outstanding dedication to providing credit and financial guidance to farmers, ranchers and businesses in rural America. He writes a monthly Agrivision column for the
Wisconsin Agriculturalist .

Also integral to the program was a panel on environmental permitting to help understand the process producers must go through, and another panel on the need for dairy processing in Pennsylvania and new alternatives for marketing milk in the region.

The cost to attend the event was $200 per person, discounted to $150 for representatives of organizations listed as a Center Allies for Advancement (at a Bronze level of support at $1,000 or higher.).
