The Center for Dairy Excellence and Pennsylvania Preferred hosted a series of Lunchtime Learning Webinars exclusively for Pennsylvania dairy processors. These webinars were offered at no cost to dairy processors interested in gaining new insights to use in their business. Dates, topics and speakers are listed below.
Recordings of past calls are included within the webinar description and are approximately 90 minutes in duration.
Thursday, September 1: “Grow Your Business with PA Grows and Other Economic Incentive Programs Available through the Commonwealth.”
Jared Grissinger, Division Chief for Economic Development at the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, will lead a discussion on resources available to farms through state and federal programs. As part of his role, Jared leads the PA Grows initiative, which specializes in helping farmers, food processors, farmers market operators, and other agricultural businesses put all of the pieces of this lending puzzle together. This webinar will help you better understand how the programs will work, ways they can be used together to maximize effectiveness, and the steps you need to take in order to qualify.
September 8: “Maximize Your Marketing with PA Preferred and MilkPEP Resources.”
Melissa Malcom, the director of sales and field marketing for the Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP), will join PA Preferred and the Center for Dairy Excellence staff to showcase resources available to help processors promote local fluid milk and dairy products. The National Fluid Milk Processor Promotion Board, through MilkPEP, runs the Milk Life, Great American Milk Drive and Built With Chocolate Milk Campaigns and offers free resources to processors looking to leverage the campaigns. The Center works with PA Preferred to help dairy processors leverage the PA Preferred brand and resources to promote locally-produced and processed dairy products.
Thursday, September 29: “Get Answers About Food Safety and FSMA from the Penn State Dairy Team.”
This will be a question and answer session where processors can submit their questions on the Food Safety and Modernization Act, current food safety regulations and what they as processors have to do to address the current regulations. Questions can be emailed to the Center for Dairy Excellence at email@example.com in advance (by September 20) to be answered by Dr. Kerry Kaylegian, the Dairy Foods Research & Extension Associate at the Pennsylvania State University’s Department of Food Science. Kerry provides technical support to the dairy industry and delivers outreach programs focused on improving the safety and quality of dairy products.
