Joint Initiative to Host Environmental Compliance Workshops
The Pennsylvania Center for Dairy Excellence and Center for Beef Excellence announce a joint initiative to provide support and resources to both dairy and beef farms in meeting baseline agricultural compliance. The Centers will work in partnership with local conservation districts to support and conduct workshops helping dairy and beef farmers write Agriculture Erosion & Sediment and/or Manure Management Plans.
The Centers will also offer financial assistance to dairy or beef farms that need professional assistance in developing plans and meeting baseline compliance.
Pre-registration required for all workshops.
Luzerne County workshops March 6 and 27, 2017
3/6 Nescopeck Township Building, 429 Berwick Hazelton Hwy, Nescopeck, PA from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
3/27 Back Mountain EMA Building, 3593 State Route 118, Dallas, PA from 9 – 3 p.m.
These workshops will provide PA One Stop training to producers and to assist with the development of an Agricultural Erosion & Sedimentation Plan. Two separate groups will be hosted – one for north county farmers and a second from south county farmers with the same agenda repeated at both. Producers who will need further assistance with completing their plan can make a follow up meeting with Luzerne CD staff. To register, contact Amy Salansky, ag tech, at (570) 938-3022.
Cambria County workshops on March 22 and 29, 2017
Cambria County Extension, 499 Manor Drive, Ebensburg, PA from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
No charge for workshop, snacks and beverages provided.
The Cambria Conservation District is hosting a farm mapping and plan writing workshop that can help you complete a map of your farm to be used directly in a written Agricultural Erosion & Sediment Control Plan (2nd day workshop) for your home farm. Washington County workshops on April 1 and 8, 2017
Washington Conservation District office, 2800 N Main St. #105, Washington, PA from 9 a.m. – 12 noon
No fee for workshop, breakfast or lunch provided.

Snyder County workshops on April 17 and 24, 2017
Snyder County Emergency Services Building, 30 Universal Road, Selinsgrove, PA at 6 p.m.
No fee for the workshop, light refreshments will be provided at each session.
The Snyder County Conservation District is hosting a farm mapping and plan writing workshop that can help you complete a map of your home farm to be used directly in a written Agriculture Erosion and Sediment Control Plan. Participants need to attend both sessions and have computer & internet access after the April 17 session to complete work ready for the April 24 session.
